Got the next two books up and this is a long one. We get into the emergence of Matts awesomeness, my hatred of Luca Valan, the climactic scenes of every book and much much more. I think this might be one of our more intense discussions, we actually disagreed on something!
Also there is a question towards the end of the episode about the Maidens and whats happening with them towards the end of Lord of Chaos on the march to The Wells. I’d appreciate it if we could get some audience feedback on what is going on between Nandera and Sulin at that time.

Don’t even remember the Nandera/Sulin thing. I’ll have to go back and re-read that. I assume it’s some weirdness with ji’e'toh. Something about dishonoring the one when you beat them or something. Who knows?
As for the Valan Luca/Power Girls scenes debate. I feel like I’m right in the middle on this one. I don’t love any of those scenes, but I don’t hate any of them either. Could I skip them? Probably not. Do I sometimes want to? Yes. I just have a hard time skipping anything (although, I did skip all of CoT on my latest re-read in preparation for TGS).
Interestingly, about the menagerie scenes in tFoH, I remember thinking it was very long after my first reading. When I went back for a re-read, it was much shorter than I remembered it being. So, maybe it was a bit hard for me to get through, even the first time.
great job guys! you brought up some really good scenes this time. I really don’t have any problem with the Valan Luca sections (sorry Amit!) but Aram does bug me once he goes crazy.
I also agree with Marco that Osangar and Arangar were REALLY COOL on my first read, but on rereads they are rather annoying and almost pointless.
As for the Sulin/Nandera thing, I may be wrong, but here’s what I’m remembering right now. Sulin was stepping up b/c she felt she had failed Rand and was trying to make up for it. However, she was stepping on Nandera’s toes by doing this. So when they fought, even though Sulin won, Nandera was the one in the right and Sulin was the one in the wrong. B/c of jih-e-toh, Sulin yielded to Nandera even though Sulin won the fight. But again, I could be wrong – that’s all just from memory at this point.
PS. I’m totally with Marco on avoiding spoilers – I’m refusing even to read the Chapter 1 and prologue stuff that’s been released for the new book – I want to experience the whole book at once, and be surprised by it all.
Thanks for the comments guys!
Sorry Heather, I folded and read the Prologue, Chap 1 and listened to Chap 2…I know, I am weak.
Aw Marco, how could you?! I admit I stared at them longingly but I didn’t give in.
But only b/c Brandon is coming to my city in just a few weeks and I’m going to get a signed copy of the book then – yay!
Hey! This comment is a bit late in the game, but… I’ve enjoyed listening to your podcasts about your favorite scenes in the WoT books
It’s been so long since I read the earlier books that these podcasts made me remember all the awesomeness and I ended up re-reading a lot of my favorite scenes. Thanks!
