Discovered this podcast this week. You've had some really great discussions and am looking forward to the rest

Although being Australian and listening to a South African accent after our recent rugby performances hurt me a little inside.

Im glad your enjoying the podcast.

I agree that the first scene with Rand and Tam is striking. But I feel the initial sequences in the two rivers feels derivative without the overall context. Without that prologue Im not so sure I wold have persevered through the section. However once I heard the lines "Weep for Manethren" I was totally sold on the series.

I just discovered your podcast and it is great! I'm looking forward to hearing more from you guys.

You brought up whether you'd have been interested in the first book without the prologue. For me, I definitely would have. I started reading as a teen in the early 1990s and I still remember reading those first chapters ... the black rider and the cloak that doesn't move in the wind and FEELING the evil that was emanating from it ... yeah, I was hooked from that point on.
