Hi and Welcome to the first episode of The Wotcast hosted by Amit Doshi and Marco van der Merwe.
Marco and I met at the Hall of Servants Group at librarything.com and realized just how huge Wheel of Timee Geeks we were. In the run up to A Memory of Light we thought a podcast would be fun to do, so heres our first attempt.
In this episode we cover:
1. Introductions
2. A general history of how we started reading the Wheel of Time, favourite books in the series, favourite characters and so on.
3. An in depth discussion on Lews Therin Telamon and his relationships with the various forsaken.

I just discovered your podcast and it is great! I’m looking forward to hearing more from you guys.
You brought up whether you’d have been interested in the first book without the prologue. For me, I definitely would have. I started reading as a teen in the early 1990s and I still remember reading those first chapters … the black rider and the cloak that doesn’t move in the wind and FEELING the evil that was emanating from it … yeah, I was hooked from that point on.
Im glad your enjoying the podcast.
I agree that the first scene with Rand and Tam is striking. But I feel the initial sequences in the two rivers feels derivative without the overall context. Without that prologue Im not so sure I wold have persevered through the section. However once I heard the lines “Weep for Manethren” I was totally sold on the series.

Although being Australian and listening to a South African accent after our recent rugby performances hurt me a little inside.
LOL.
Thanks Matt, I promise that I’ll try and keep the rugby commentary to a bare minimum. Being Tri-Nations champs and all that…
